This site is intended as a method for friends to casually share and comment on the current music they like and are listening to. The term världsmusik means "world music" in Swedish. The term 'world music' was chosen to encourage any and all types of music to be shared. Swedish was chosen because this was the only translation of 'world music' available as a domain name. And it's classy.

"Spanish Sahara" by Foals

I found this song while watching The Misfits on Hulu (which by the way has the most kick ass soundtrack ever, I've found a ton of new stuff on there...).  I looked it up on Wikipedia and it turns out this song was huge in the UK in 2010, and is still seeing some popularity in 2011.  Here's what Wikipedia had to say about it:
"Spanish Sahara" peaked at number 148 on the UK Singles Chart.
The song was number one in the NME top 50 songs of the year 2010.[3] In February 2011, it won the award for 'Best Song' at the NME Awards.[4] In October 2011, NME eventually placed it at number 14 on its list "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years".[5] In January 2011, the song was voted Number 98 on the Triple J Hottest 100 for 2010.[6]
It's has a haunting but beautiful sound that builds and builds throughout the entire song.

  1. Damn, this is pretty sweet, especially when the drums kick in.

    I'm like three episodes into that Misfits show and they do have some pretty sweet music. I think that's my favorite part about it. I'm still kind of on the fence about the show though, but it's growing on me.

  2. I think as you get to know the characters it gets funnier. I didn't really care for the first episode much at all, it took me awhile to "get" their type of humor. But yeah, the music is kick ass haha
